Feb 01, 2012 (newstodate): The Russian manufacturer Sukhoi will have a busy year if plans for this year's deliveries of the Superjet 100 are to materialize.
According to the order backlog, 11 customers will take delivery of Super 100 aircraft in 2012, including the first - and so far only - operators, Armavia and Aeroflot.
So far Armavia has taken delivery of only one of two aircraft ordered, while Aeroflot has recently taken delivery of the 5th of a total of 30 aircraft on firm orders.
Thus, nine new operators and leasing companies will receive their first Superjet 100 aircraft this year, including IFLC, UTAir, Kartika Airlines, Yakutia Airlines, Lao Central Airlines, Pearl Aircraft Corporation, Willis Lease Finance, Interjet, Sky Aviation, Blue Panorama Airlines, and Kuban Airlines.
The first production aircraft to Armavia was originally slated by the end of 2009, but eventually delayed till April 21, 2011, due to a series of problems with key project elements including engines.
