Feb 27, 2012 (newstodate): Sukhoi is planning for a new version of its commercial aircraft, the Superjet 100.
To be named Superjet 100ER, the new aircraft will be equipped with new engines and structural modifications increasing fuel efficiency and reducing weight, allowing the range to be extended by about 50 percent, to 4.578 km against the current base version's range of 3.048 km.
The new extended range-version will become available as a prototype aircraft by the end of this year.
Sukhoi has also announced plans for extending the product range by offering a new version of the Superjet 100 with 98 seats to up to 130 seats compared to the base line model's 98 seats.
This larger aircraft is planned for introduction from 2013.
