Feb 28, 2012 (newstodate): After a more than 10 years of absence, the Scandinavian carrier SAS is returning services between Copenhagen and Kaliningrad, the Russian Baltic Sea enclave.
Starting on March 25, 2012, SAS plans to offer four weekly rotations on the route to be served with CRJ200 or CRJ900 aircraft.
Kaliningrad thus becomes the third Russian destinations served by the carrier, alongside Moscow and St Petersburg, and with the addition of the new flights to Kaliningrad, SAS will have 35 weekly rotations between Scandinavia and Russia.
SAS served the route to Kaliningrad for eight years until 2001, and later attempts to revive the route were made by the Danish carrier DAT from September 7, 2003, but the traffic was closed down after only a few years.
