Feb 17, 2012 (newstodate): Turkish Technic, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, has a strategy for entering the MRO markets of Russia and CIS.
So far, the plans have been to set up a new aircraft maintenance center in Russia in cooperation with a Russian partner.
But the strategy has been revised. Turkish Technic is now looking at alternative locations in Eastern Europe or in the CIS region after having found the Russian business climate less favorable to its development plans.
Among carriers served by the Turkish MRO provider are Yakutia that renewed and extended its contract for Boeing maintenance in December 2012, and the Latvia-based carrier Smartlynx Airlines that signed a base maintenance services agreement and paint services agreement with Turkish Technic in November 2012.
