Feb 29, 2012 (newstodate): Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport saw its cargo volumes rising 15.2 percent, y-o-y, in January 2012.
A total of 8,382 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at the airport, including 5,722 tonnes of international cargo and 2,660 tonnes of domestic cargo - an increase by 19.6 and 6.7 percent, respectively, and compared to January 2011.
The airport statistics include only flown cargo.
In the same month, Norway's IATA export airfreight alone totaled 7,207 tonnes indicating that a significant of Norway's airfreight is carried by trucks into and from other airports in Sweden and on the European continent.
A study is currently being performed to identify potentials for increasing the provision of air cargo capacity at Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
