Feb 13, 2012 (newstodate): Last-ditch efforts are made to return the Hungarian carrier Malev, now under protection, to the marketplace.
The carrier is reportedly in talks with the Russian bank Vneshekonombank to obtain a credit line enabling it to resume operations.
Holding a five-percent minority share in Malev, Vneshekonombank is still involved the the carrier.
Until May 2010, Malev was owned by Airbridge, in which the state-owned Vneshekonombank holds 49 percent.
In its turn, Airbridge was owned by the now bankrupt Russian carrier Krasair's owner, who ended up in dire economical straits, causing the Hungarian state to negotiate with the Russian party to find a solution to the problems.
Krasair won the tender for Malev in 2007.
