Feb 06, 2012 (newstodate): Kyrgyzstan's Osh Airport needs reconstruction of its infrastructure to cope with rising passenger volumes.
On the list of projects is the construction of a new passenger terminal, but a new cargo terminal is also needed.
The airport has one 2,614m runway that was recently extended by 200m, and new runway lighting systems were implemented in the same process.
The regional government is however not able to bear the costs of the reconstruction program by itself and is now in the market to attract external investors.
In 2011 the airport handled a total of 1.6 mio passengers as well as 21,463 tonnes of cargo.
