Feb 16, 2012 (newstodate): The new Icelandic low-cost carrier under formation, WOW Air is now opening sales on three routes from this summer.
First destinations out are Copenhagen, Cologne and London, with flights to start from June 1, 2012 with Airbus A320 operated by the Icelandic-owned Lithuanian ACMI provider Avion Express, and flying on an Lithuanian AOC as Avion Express' other aircraft.
The airline, based at Keflavik Airport, will start out with flights to a total of 12 European destinations, including also Alicante, Basel, Berlin, Krakow, Lyon, Paris, Stuttgart, Warsaw and Zurich.
WOW Air will compete with a range of other airlines operating into Iceland this summer - but not least with Iceland Express that has been through a turbulent period and will operate a scaled-down program this summer.
The two low-cost carriers will thus be competing head-on on routes from Iceland to Alicante, Basel, Paris, Copenhagen, Berlin, Krakow, and Warsaw.
