Feb 06, 2012 (newstodate): The Icelandair Group's aircraft leasing company Icelease will be on the move again.
-Actually, we do not have any concrete project on the shelf and no aircraft either after Norwegian acquired our remaining three Boeing 787 slots in May 2011, says Kari Karason, Icelease general manager..
Two of the aircraft are slated for delivery during the first half of 2013, and the third aircraft will follow in early 2015.
-During the recent financial crisis that took a heavy toll on Iceland, our equity has been running pretty low, so we have not been in a position to engage in new projects, says Mr Karason.
-The situation has, however, improved now and we are now ready to launch new projects again. By world standards, our equities are of course still comparatively limited, so we will prefer working with partners which has always been our preferred business practice to offset risk.
-We were rather lucky to conclude all our aircraft transactions successfully before 2007 and 2008, in time before the crisis deepened and this enabled us to ride through the storm in relative calm. But now Icelease is definitely back in the market and readying to move, says Mr Karason.
