Feb 14, 2012 (newstodate): Finnair's monopoly of flights between Finland and Japan may be in danger from next year already.
According to Nikkei, Japan Airlines will announce new flights on February 15, 2012, including the launch of services from next year's summer schedule between Tokyo Narita and Helsinki Vaanta Airport.
As one of the few airlines to offer a connection to all three of Japan's most important destinations, Finnair operates flights between Helsinki and Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya as an important part of its crucial Asian traffic.
Both Japan Airlines and Finnair are oneworld members, and the route between Helsinki and Tokyo has been operated in a code-share agreement between the two parties.
