Feb 15, 2012 (newstodate): Bahrain-based carrier Gulf Air is adding further heat to the competition in the Danish market from this summer.
Currently offering four weekly rotations on the route between Doha and Copenhagen, the carrier is to add one further frequency from March 3, 2012, and yet another from June 2, 2012, thus coming close to daily rotations.
Operating between Denmark and the Gulf region are also Emirates offering daily rotations between Dubai and Copenhagen using Boeing 777-200 aircraft, and Qatar Airways offering daily rotations with Airbus A330 aircraft.
First to enter the market was Qatar Airways calling at Copenhagen from March 30, 2010, followed by Gulf Air starting from July 1, 2011, and finally Emirates launching flights from Dubai to Copenhagen on August 1, 2011.
While Gulf Air's frequency to Denmark will thus keep increasing, the carrier has announced the closure of flights to other destinations including Damascus, Athens, Milan and Kuala Lumpur, as well as to Entebbe and Geneva as already announced earlier.
