Feb 01, 2012 (newstodate): Denmark's Billund Airport came off to a good start in cargo volumes in January 2012.
A total of 5,074 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, an increase by seven percent, y-o-y.
In contrast to 2011, import volumes again contributed to the increase, albeit by only one percent, to 2,578 tonnes, while export volumes continued to soar by 13.9 percent, y-o-y, to 2,496 tonnes.
In 2011, the airport set a new record in cargo volumes with a total of 63,326 tonnes - an increase by 2.9 percent, y-o-y.
During the year, exports grew by 18.1 percent, y-o-y, to 32,983 tonnes, while import volumes were down by 9.8 percent to 30,343 tonnes.
