Feb 09, 2012 (newstodate): Aeroflot is big - and is now growing even bigger through a fresh acquisition that pushes the consolidation in the country's aviation business even further.
Aeroflot has been cleared by the Russian anti-monopoly authority to buy 75 percent of the shares in the Russian carrier Rossiya, based at St Petersburg.
Rossiya operates a commercial fleet of 29 aircraft including 15 Airbus A320 Family aircraft, five Boeing 737-500, three Boeing 767-300, and six AN-148 aircraft, with orders for a further nine AN-148.
Rossiya also operates a fleet of 36 aircraft dedicated to state purposes.
