Dec 12, 2012 (newstodate): Issues of ownership in Ukraine's aviation businesses are rather complex.
Defying rumors to the contrary, Ukraine International Airlines has now publicly announced that there is no ownership by the country's PrivatBank Group in the stake of the carrier.
The PrivatBank Group is behind Ukrainian Aviation Group, owned by Igor Kolomoyskyi, controlling three of the country's airlines: Dniproavia, Aerosvit and Donbassaero.
Recently, the earlier competition between Ukraine International Airlines and Aerosvit has been replaced by a growing cooperation including code-sharing, sharing of capacity and routes and other activities, leading to suspicions that UAI has also come under the control of the PrivatBank Group and Ukrainian Aviation Group.
