Dec 17, 2012 (newstodate): During the first 10 months of 2012, air cargo volumes have dropped by 17 percent, y-o-y, at Sweden's 2nd largest airport, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.
The airport has handled a total of 29,574 tonnes of cargo during January-October 2012, compared to 35,555 tonnes in 2011, all according to official Swedavia figures.
The drop in volumes were also boosted by the move of Asiana Cargo's weekly Korea-bound freighter from Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport to Oslo Gardermoen Airport since September 7, 2012, which accelerated the decline in volumes in September by 19 percent and by 24 percent in October 2012.
In 2011, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport handled a total of 41,806 tonnes of flown air cargo against 47,705 tonnes in 2010 - a drop by 12.4 percent, y-o-y.
To this should be added the trucked airfreight at the airport, bringing the total volume of cargo handled to about 90,000 tonnes in 2011.
