Dec 11, 2012 (newstodate): New aviation regulations in Russia forces an airline to suspend flights and cease operations.
With only six aircraft in the fleet, three Airbus A319 and three Boeing 737, Kuban Airlines does not meet the new regulations requiring a fleet of at least eight aircraft with more than 55 seats.
The airline also does not have the financial strength to take in new aircraft and the three Airbus A319 aircraft have now been returned to the lessor.
Earlier this year, Kuban Airlines placed an order for 12 Superjet 100 aircraft but it now remains uncertain if the carrier will be refinanced to survive in the industry.
