Dec 14, 2012 (newstodate): Air cargo volumes at Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport have risen significantly during the first 11 months of this year.
A total of 96,723 tonnes of cargo and mail has been handled at the airport, an increase over 2011 by 8.9 percent.
International cargo, 67,194 tonnes, has taken the lead with a 11.5 percent increase, lately boosted also by the move of Asiana Cargo's weekly Korea- bound freighter from Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport since September 7, 2012.
In November 2012 alone, the airport handled 7,085 tonnes of cargo, up 12.6 percent, y-o-y, and total cargo volumes increased by 10.4 percent to 9,970 tonnes.
The stage is now set for Oslo Gardermoen Airport to mark a new record in total cargo volumes, surpassing last year's record-high volume of 97,801 tonnes after an increase by 14.1 percent.
Already now, international cargo at the airport has exceeded last year's record-high level of 67,015 tonnes.
