Dec 14, 2012 (newstodate): Norway continued to be the only Nordic IATA export airfreight market to grow in October 2012, the latest month recorded.
In Norway, IATA carriers generated a total of 8,494 tonnes of export cargo - an increase by 11.9 percent, y-o-y, with Finnair in the lead with 1,327 tonnes after increasing 41.8 percent.
At the other end of the specter, Sweden continued its downturn in IATA cargo volumes that dropped another 16.8 percent, y-o-y, to 8,391 tonnes, with SAS Cargo leading with 1,282 tonnes, albeit down 20.7 percent, y-o-y.
Denmark was also not spared from the general negative trend with a drop in IATA export volumes by 14.8 percent to 6,279 tonnes, with SAS Cargo in the #1 position, rising 14.3 percent, y-o-y, to 1,072 tonnes.
Finally, Finland remained rather stable with volumes down only 0.7 percent, y-o-y, to 3,534 tonnes.
Needless to say, Finnair kept its firm grip on the home turf although dropping 19.6 percent to 1,501 tonnes.
