Dec 21, 2012 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has now firmed up its LoI concerning acquisition of new Bombardier aircraft.
Now on firm orders are 10 Bombardier CS300 aircraft, with deliveries slated to start by Q4, 2015.
In addition to the firm order, airBaltic will also hold options for a further 10 CS300 aircraft.
Originally planned for the virgin flight 2012, this event has now been postponed till June 2013, with first deliveries of the CS300 aircraft to take place one year later.
The aircraft thus still has to prove its capabilities, including its cargo performance.
So far, Bombardier has landed only 148 firm orders for the new C-Series, some 18 months ahead of the aircraft's entry into service.
airBaltic also holds options for a further five Bombardier Q400 aircraft that have still not been confirmed.
