Dec 17, 2012 (newstodate): Ryanair's long-nurtured plans for low-cost flights to Russia may soon become a reality.
Already in 2007, Ryanair cast its eyes on Russia and Ukraine as future prospective markets, provided the availability of cheap handling charges at airports in the countries.
Ireland has now reportedly designated Ryanair as the carrier to serve a new route between Dublin and St Petersburg based on the air services agreement from 1993 between the two states.
So far no launch date has been set, and the new destination has still to be confirmed by the carrier.
