Dec 07, 2012 (newstodate): Total cargo volumes carried by Finnair were down six percent in November 2012 primarily due to cuts in freighter traffic.
The carrier lifted 12,031 tonnes of cargo including 9,831 tonnes on passenger aircraft and 2,185 tonnes on freighter traffic that were up 12.5 percent and down 46 percent, respectively, compared to same month in 2011.
Asian loads continued to grow, however, increasing 16.5 percent, y-o-y, to 7,125 tonnes, European loads were also up 10.2 percent to 1,909 tonnes, but the North Atlantic volumes dropped 9.3 percent to 618 tonnes.
In January-November 2012, Finnair's cargo volumes were 136,931 tonnes, only slightly up by 2.2 percent, y-o-y.
Again, the Asian loads saved the day with an increase by 6.1 percent to a total of 77,718 tonnes.
