Dec 11, 2012 (newstodate): The Faroe Islands' Atlantic Airways is seeing positive results from the introduction of the Airbus A319 aircraft.
The carrier launched operations with the aircraft in March 2012, and both passenger and cargo volumes have been increasing since then.
Atlantic Airways is now planning for adding a second Airbus aircraft to the fleet by Q2 2013, in time for the summer schedule and the increasing volume of charter operations for other carriers.
Only in November 2012, Atlantic Airways announced a new contract with the Danish tour operator Atlantis Rejser for a series of flights over the summer from the Danish Billund Airport to tourist destinations.
While the first A319 aircraft for Atlantic Airways was delivered directly from the Airbus factories, the 2nd Airbus A319 will be a used aircraft delivered on a lease contract.
In the fleet of Atlantic Airways are also three BAe 146 aircraft as well as three helicopters.
