Dec 03, 2012 (newstodate): The Russian and CIS markets have now been opened for ATR that has obtained Russia's Interstate Aviation Committee approval for the ATR 42-600 and ATR 72-600 aircraft.
This fits well with a decision by the Russian government to waive customs taxation on import of turboprop aircraft seating up to 72 passengers and aged not more than 10 years.
Already in force is a tax exempt on turboprop aircraft seating up to 50 passengers.
No date has yet been announced for the formal implementation of the latest zero-import tax on the larger turboprop aircraft.
