Nov 26, 2012 (newstodate): The most noticeable change in the CASS ranking of Sweden's freight forwarders in October 2012 was DSV Air & Sea, jumping from a position as No 10 in September to No 7 in October.
The company forwarded 221.8 tonnes of export air cargo in October against 160.1 tonnes in September 2013, primarily due to one-off shipments to Shanghai of some 100 tonnes of Absolut Vodka to raise the spirit among Chinese consumers.
Compared to October 2011, DSV's volumes were also up by 59.6 percent, y-o-y.
As usual, DHL Global Forwarding Sweden topped the list with 2,256 tonnes, followed by the equally usual #2, Geodis Wilson with 2,030 tonnes.
Both front-runners were down in volumes, though, by 18.1 and 4.9 percent y-o-y, respectively, while still dominating the market with shares of 26.9 and 24.2 percent, respectively.
Increasing the most, compared to October 2011, was #6 on the list, Agility with 312.7 tonnes - up 120 percent, and decreasing the most was #8, UPS SCS down 59.1 percent to 164.4 tonnes.
On the positive side was #3, Kuehne & Nagel with 783.1 tonnes and increasing 5.9 percent, y-o-y, while #4 Schenker and #5 Panalpina with 482.8 and 380 tonnes were both down by 41.2 and 47 percent, y-o-y.
In total, Sweden's IATA forwarders saw their combined volumes of export freight down by 16.8 percent, y-o-y, to 8,381.1 tonnes in October 2012.
