Nov 16, 2012 (newstodate): The fate of Estonian Air hinges on EU green light for state aid to the ailing carrier.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Estonia's prime minister stepped back from his earlier denials of any possibility of letting the airline go bankrupt.
-Since Estonian Air's fate will not be determined by the will of the government, but instead by the European Commission's decision, no scenario can be completely ruled out, he said according to Estonian media reports.
The carrier has filed a loss of 20.2 million euro for January-October 2012 and is currently working on a new strategy while cutting back on its route network and frequencies.
At the helmet of the airline since November 1, 2012, is Jan Palmer that brings in abundant experience from recent airline bankruptcies including the Danish carrier Cimber Sterling and the Swedish Skyways.
