Nov 14, 2012 (newstodate): Sweden's Jonkoping Airport reports a sustained and significant increase in cargo volumes in 2012, including October.
-Thanks to the strong growth in volumes by TNT/time:matters, we have seen total international cargo volumes over 200 tonnes every month since April 2012, says Herman Larsson, Jonkoping Airport Marketing Manager.
-This traffic by TNT and time:matters increased in volumes by 46 percent, y-o-y, in October, and our total international cargo was up by 61 percent to 283 tonnes.
-The growth trend in cargo volumes started in August 2011, so we are now comparing to already strong performances.
-On the other side our postal volumes have dropped by 27 percent, y-o-y, due to the readjustments by Post Sweden to their traffic system where Jonkoping Airport served as a "mini-hub" until July 1, 2012.
-Jonkoping Airport has all infrastructure in place to cope with a sustained increase in traffic and volumes, so the issue now will rather be when TNT will reach the capacity ceiling of their current traffic system, says Mr Larsson.
