Nov 02, 2012 (newstodate): After usual teething-troubles during the early period after moving into the new premises at Terminal North, Copenhagen, Spirit Air Cargo Handling is seeing a sustained positive development on all quality parameters.
-We are constantly measuring our performance against Cargo 2000 requirements, seeing "green" indicators growing and consolidating, says Cargo Johansson, Spirit Air Cargo Handling Denmark.
-We did admittedly run into temporary problems, though, during July when we took in the handling of Emirates SkyCargo's freighter normally operating at Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport but moved here during maintenance works on this airport's runway.
-We had just been informed by China Cargo of its decision to stop services at Copenhagen Airport, leaving a void filled by the Emirates freighter.
-Unexpectedly, China Cargo returned in full after only one week's absence, and the stress on the terminal with these two freighter operations simultaneously did create quality problems spilling over to handling of other customers as well.
-Having said that, we are seeing a continuous and consolidated development in quality as proved by statistics, even under conditions where three handling operators at Copenhagen Airport are competing head-on in a price-sensitive environment.
-As one new service offering we have launched a new express gate for customers requiring late-delivery access for export shipments. The service was opened from October 1, 2012, and will be fully implemented by the end of November.
-We are also now in the process of developing a new system for forwarders' truck arrival at our terminal along the lines of a slots system, to facilitate planning and handling of export shipments, says Mr Johanssson.
Spirit Air Cargo Handling opened its current premises on March 13, 2012.
