Nov 12, 2012 (newstodate): With the announcement of elements in SAS' strategy for revival following on fresh bank loans, the sale of the company's handling company, SGH has at last been confirmed.
On and off the sales shelf for years, what remains now is for SAS to ink a deal with a potential buyer.
Over time, several companies have been brought into the picture as new owners of SGH, with Swissport clearly seen as the most probable buyer.
Swissport earlier announced a Nordic strategy in a story carried by newstodate in May 2012 prior to the opening of the company's first cargo station in the Nordic region.
-We will certainly go for further expansion in the Nordic region, be it by generic growth or through acquisitions as options emerge, said Nils Pries Knudsen, Swissport Snr VP Europe Cargo Services division, said.
And an option has certainly emerged now...
The opening at Copenhagen Airport was the second step by Swissport in the Nordic region where the company started passenger handling at Finland's Helsinki Vantaa Airport on December 2011.
