Nov 05, 2012 (newstodate): Serbia now has a state-of-the art modern commercial airport, Kraljevo-Ladevci Airport.
Originally a military air force base in the country's industrial region Krajelvo Municipality, the airport's existing 2,200 m runway has been broadened and extended to 2,750 m, a new ATC tower has been built as well as a new passenger terminal, with the projects supported by Turkish investments, USAid and the Serb state.
Now, the airport is ready to handle commercial traffic.
The only remaining problem is that not a single airline has put it on the route map. So the state will have to support the airport over the coming years until customers arrive.
