Nov 27, 2012 (newstodate): The first airport in Poland dedicated to low-cost and charter carriers, Modlin Airport has had a good start of business since its opening on July 15, 2012.
The first two LCCs to operate at the new airport are Wizz Air that moved its base of operations from the Warsaw Chopin Airport and Ryanair.
Together, these two airlines provide flights to 25 international destinations including Stockholm, Budapest, Oslo, and Stavanger.
During its first four months of operation, the airport has handled over 720,000 passengers, and starting from spring 2013 the airport will add charter operations.
Originally a Soviet air force base, Modlin Airport has one 2,500m runway.
