Nov 14, 2012 (newstodate): Air transportation is important in Norway that generated some 25,000 tonnes of import air cargo and some 94,000 tonnes of export air cargo in 2011, flown and trucked combined.
Air transportation accounted for some 0.2 percent of all export volumes while representing about six percent measured in value, according to the findings of a fresh study on air cargo, commissioned by Avinor and published in October 2012.
10 airlines account for some 85 percent of all Norwegian export airfreight, and 80 percent of the shipments contain seafood products where 60-70 percent of all exports go by air.
In H1, 2012, Japan accounted for 18.3 percent of the export cargo, followed by Hong Kong with 11.9 percent, Vietnam 11.5 percent, China 9.4 percent, Taiwan 9.3 percent, USA 7.3 percent, Singapore 5.9 percent, and South Korea 5.6 percent.
