Nov 12, 2012 (newstodate): India and Slovenia has at long last inked a new air services agreement, raising hopes for the realization of plans for Air India flights through Slovenia.
Air India and Slovenia's Adria Airways signed an MoU already in June, 2011, to enable the two carriers to offer transfer access to destinations in Eastern Europe and India beyond Ljubljana and Delhi.
Partners on the Slovenian side also include the country's largest international airport, Ljubljana Airport.
When the parliaments of the two countries have signed the new agreement, the carriers are free to launch their cooperation after signing of a code-share agreement to further ease the onward travels on either airlines through just one booking.
In the meantime, Adria Airways has been put up for sale, with 75 of the shares to go through a tender process that has still not been concluded.
