Nov 07, 2012 (newstodate): A new carrier is reportedly preparing to launch flights between Armenia and Israel.
New on the route will be Arkia Israeli Airlines that operates a fleet comprising eight aircraft including two Boeing 757, five ATR-72 and one Embraer 195 aircraft, with orders placed for two Boeing 787 and four Airbus A321 aircraft.
So far the Armenian carrier Armavia has been alone in operating direct non-stop flights on the route between Yerevan and Tel Aviv under the air services agreement between the two countries, signed in 1997.
It remains unclear if Armavia will continue flights on this route alongside Arkia, or if the Israeli airline will be alone in serving the markets.
