Nov 30, 2012 (newstodate): Lithuania's Kaunas Airport will see the construction of a new aircraft maintenance hangar.
The airport has leased a land plot to the helicopter company Aviabaltika that will now start building a hangar on the 19,000 sq.m. site leased for a period of 40 years.
Aviabaltika will build a 15,000 sq.m. hangar certified by international standards to provide repair and maintenance work to own and 3rd party rotary-wing aircraft.

-Besides passenger and cargo business, we are keen to develop our airport into a center of aviation-related industries as part of our over-all strategy.
Established in 1991, Aviabaltika has developed special competence in maintenance of Russian helicopter types including Mi-8, Mi-17 and Ka-32 helicopters, as well as providing training and qualification upgrade courses for flight personnel, engineers and technicians at its Specialized Helicopter Training Center.
