Nov 13, 2012 (newstodate): Georgia is modernizing the Kopitnari Airport, poised to play a leading role in the country's aviation infrastructure.
The airport has just completed the installation of a new complete NAVAIDS system, delivered by the UK provider Systems Interface and comprising two Park Air Systems ILS, two Moog Fernau DME, and one Indra DVOR.
The airport has one 2,500m CAT 1 runway and was reopened in September 2012 after a comprehensive renovation.
Georgia is to move its state parliament from Tbilisi to Kutaisi, served by Kopitnari Airport that will gain further in importance as one of the country's three international airports.
