Nov 12, 2012 (newstodate): Work is progressing on formulating a new strategy and business plan for Estonian Air.
-No details can be announced at this stage, but we expect the new strategy to be finalized by the end of the month, and it will then be presented to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications for approval, says Ilona Eskelinen, Estonian Air communications manager.
All balls are up in the air including future routes to be served, frequencies to offered, and aircraft fleet to be operated.
Estonian Air is currently operating four Embraer E-170 aircraft under a one-year lease arrangement with Finnair, and subject to the approval of Estonian Airs Supervisory Council, Estonian Air has signed a contract with Embraer for the outright acquisition of three E175 and one E190 aircraft, with deliveries to start from 2nd quarter of 2014.
As part of the earlier strategy, now under revision, Estonian Air will also take eight additional aircraft, four E170 and four E190, under a combination of lease agreements with third parties and leasing companies.
On the other hand, the UK-based aircraft finance, procurement, re-marketing and fleet asset protection company Skytech-AIC has been contracted to manage the sale of Estonian Air's three Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.
