Nov 28, 2012 (newstodate): Poland's Warsaw Chopin Airport is seeing sustained growth in cargo volumes in 2012.
In October, the total volume of cargo handled at the airport was up 12.3 percent, y-o-y, to 4,371 tonnes.
The growth was driven by international cargo, up 12.6 percent to 4,310 tonnes, with exports growing 17.1 percent to 1,811 tonnes.
Imports also grew by 9.6 percent to 2,499 tonnes.
For January-October 2012, cargo volumes reached 37,271 tonnes, up 2.7 percent, y-o-y, with imports up by 5.2 percent to 37,271 tonnes, while exports were down 0.7 percent to 15,322 tonnes.
In October 2012, mail volumes at the airport increased 5.4 percent, y-o-y, to 1,460 tonnes, and in January-October mail volumes were 14,062 tonnes, up 3.2 percent.
LOT was the main cargo carrier, with 1,083 tonnes in October 2012, and 12,285 tonnes in January-October.
