Nov 06, 2012 (newstodate): Airfreight volumes reached a peak in October 2012 at the Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport.
A total of 38 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, an increase by 55.1 percent, y-o-y, and the highest volume handled so far into 2012.
Mail volumes were 19.1 tonnes, down 5.4 percent, y-o-y.
In January-October 2012, the airport has handled a total of 344,3 tonnes of cargo, up 70.2 percent, y-o-y, and 175,6 tonnes of mail, which was down 15.7 percent on last year.
The country's carrier Atlantic Airways introduced its new Airbus A319 aircraft from March 2012 that has greatly increased the cargo capacity in the market.
