Oct 10, 2012 (newstodate): Sweden's flown airfreight through Swedavia's 11 airports dropped 16.3 percent, y-o-y, during January-August 2012.
A total of 80,967 tonnes of flown cargo was thus handled at the airports including Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, and Malmo Sturup Airport.
In the same period, international flown airfreight accounted for 78,462 tonnes, down 16.6 percent.
The decline in international cargo was caused primarily by a drop by 22.4 percent, y-o-y, in flown air cargo imports, totaling 33,086 tonnes, while flown air cargo exports were also down by 11.8 percent, y-o-y, to 45,375 tonnes, according to official figures from Swedavia that do not include trucked cargo.
Combined, the volumes of flown and trucked cargo at the airports of the three largest Swedavia airports at Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo reached 137,000 tonnes in January-August 2012, down 20.1 percent, y-o-y.
