Oct 05, 2012 (newstodate): September saw cargo booming again at Estonia's Tallinn Airport.
A total of 2,681 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, an increase by 136 percent, y-o-y.
The increase was generated by airfreight imports that were up by 172.5 percent, y-o-y, to 2,357 tonnes.
During the first nine months of 2012 Tallinn Airport has thus handled a total of 16,662 tonnes, up 30.7 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the strong recovery in volumes are the about 40 monthly freighters flying ex-China shipments in from Istanbul by ULS Logistics for onward transportation by trucks into Russia.
ULS Logistics is now working hard to attract airfreight exports from the Baltic markets to utilize the space on the return flights from Tallinn to Istanbul, which would further lift airfreight volumes at Tallinn Airport.
