Oct 08, 2012 (newstodate): Russia's Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo Airport continues to see cargo volumes growing fast in 2012.
In September 2012, the airport handled a total of 1,702 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 14 percent, y-o-y.
During the period January-September 2012 the total volumes of cargo at the airport were 14,418 tonnes, up 22 percent, y-o-y.
Of the total volume, domestic cargo accounted for 8,998 tonnes, up four percent, while international cargo increased by 66 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 5,322 tonnes.
Behind the growth are efforts to build the airport into an international air cargo hub for transportation between Europe and Asia.
Since December 2011, Lufthansa Consulting has been working with Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo International Airport on a two-year contract to increase passenger and cargo traffic with a strong focus on attracting more international airline traffic in both segments.
