Oct 05, 2012 (newstodate): September proved another month of decline in cargo volumes for Finnair Cargo.
A total of 12,460 tonnes was carried, a decline by 6.9 percent, y-o-y.
The totals included 9,939 tonnes of belly cargo, up 2.8 percent, and 2,520 tonnes of freighter cargo that decreased by 32.1 percent, y-o-y, reflecting down-scaling of the company's freighter operations.
As usual, cargo on Finnair's Asian flights was dominating with 7,352 tonnes of belly freight, up 6.2 percent, y-o-y, while all other segments showed negative growth in September 2012.
In January-September 2012, Finnair Cargo aggregated a total of 112,084 tonnes of cargo, 3.9 percent more than in 2011, with 63,013 tonnes of cargo on the Asian traffic.
During the period, freighter traffic accounted for 26,382 tonnes, an increase by 15.4 percent, and belly cargo loads were 85,582 tonnes, up only 0.9 percent.
Thanks to optimization of the capacity, Finnair still manages to keep load factors slightly increasing.
