Oct 18, 2012 (newstodate): SAS is to reorganize its presence in the Finnish market starting from November 1, 2012.
From this date, the SAS subsidiary in Finland, Blue1 will change role into a pure capacity provider for SAS as SAS takes over the responsibility for all commercial activities.
The Blue1 brand will thus disappear as SAS will flag its own brand head-on against its Nordic competitor, Finnair in the Finnish market.
The latest move follows after the opening of an increasing number of direct flights between SAS' hubs in Copenhagen and Stockholm and destinations in Finland, bypassing Helsinki as a transfer point.
Blue1 thus operates to Copenhagen from Kittila, Kuopio, Lappeenranta, Oulu, Turku and Vaasa as well as from Helsinki and Tampere, and to Stockholm from Kokkola, Oulu and Pori as well as from Helsinki, Tampere, Vaasa and Turku.
Blue1 operates a fleet comprising nine Boeing 717 aircraft.
