Oct 11, 2012 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo saw its over-all cargo loads down during the first nine months of 2012.
A total of 1,288,000 tonnes of cargo was carried during January-September 2012, a decline by 8.9 percent, y-o-y.
Lufthansa Cargo, however, managed its capacity closely and was able to keep its cargo load factor at 69 percent, down only 0.3 percentage-points, y-o-y.
The dramatic decline in total volumes was primarily due to a downturn in the Asia/Pacific region where volumes were down 12.9 percent, y-o-y, to 352,000 tonnes.
Volumes on the other sectors were also down, with Europe dropping 5.2 percent to 445,000 tonnes, the Americas down 9.8 percent to 389,000 tonnes, and Africa/Middle East down 5.7 percent to 102,000 tonnes.
