Oct 03, 2012 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Transaero has decided to take delivery of two new freighter aircraft.
The airline has signed a lease agreement with Ilyushin Finance for delivery of two Tu-204-100C freighters, the first of which will arrive with Transaero before the end of 2012, with the second to follow by January 2013.
The two freighters will become the first dedicated cargo aircraft in the airline's fleet that currently counts 92 passenger aircraft with orders for another 29.
In 2011, Transaero that is the country's second-largest airline in passenger volumes carried a total of 51,349 tonnes of cargo and mail - an increase by 27.9 percent, y-o-y.
An in January-August 2012, Transaero was ranked fourth and fastest rising in cargo volumes among Russia's airlines, transporting a total of 39,807 tonnes and up 29.6 percent, y-o-y, during the period.
