Oct 31, 2012 (newstodate): Estonian Air is to have a new CEO, according to a release this morning from Estonian Air's Supervisory Council.
New in the chair from November 1, 2012, will be Jan Palmer, replacing Tero Taskila who took office on June 1, 2011.
-In autumn 2010, after acquiring the majority of company's shares, the Estonian State set Estonian Air a target to increase connections from Estonia, and to achieve profitability. In 2011, in order to reach the goal, the company introduced a new strategy which focused on expansion of the route network, the release reads.
-By the middle of this year, it was clear that the chosen strategy of Estonian Air had risks realization of which worsened the company's financial performance considerably, says Erkki Raasuke, the Chairman of Estonian Air Supervisory Council.
-Based on the financial results and future prospects, the Supervisory Council has decided to change the strategy approved last year and to name Jan Palmer as the new CEO of the company. The changed direction is based on core route network for Estonia, where there is a solid fundamental demand.
At the same time, all members of the existing Supervisory Council have submitted their request to withdraw.
