Jan 04, 2012 (newstodate): Nordic Aero is keen to develop its ground handling business at Finland's Helsinki Vaanta Airport.
In December 2011, the company landed a contract with another handling company at the airport, Airpro, to provide ramp handling on Thomas Cook aircraft, thus acting as a sub-supplier.
-Airpro provides aircraft interior cleaning, while we provide the handling services outside and around the aircraft, says Marko Pietilainen, Nordic Aero Country Manager Finland.
-We are keen to develop our handling business at Helsinki Vantaa Airport, both as to passenger and cargo, already providing West Atlantic, operating for FedEx on the route between Stockholm and Helsinki, with cargo handling.
-On the ramp and cargo handling side, we operate for airline customers Amapola, Airpro, Thomas cook, CSA, Air Explore, Aerocredo, and Kuban Airlines.
-Besides ramp and cargo handling, we are also serving airlines with de-icing and anti-icing services, and here our customers are Air Aaland, Amapola, the Finnish Air Force, TAP, Air Portugal, Thomas Cook Scandinavia, TNT, Nordflyg Logistic Finland, TNT Airways and West Atlantic Luxembourg.
-But we are currently negotiating with several new customers in various segments and expect 2012 to become a year of expansion in Finland, says Mr Pietilainen.
In November 2010, the Swedish company Nordic Aero, the Norwegian companies Roeros Flyservice and Norport Ground Handling joined to set up Aviator Airport Alliance that later, in March 2011, acquired the Danish handling company Novia.
