Jan 25, 2012 (newstodate): A weakening airfreight import market in Sweden caused total flown air cargo volumes to drop by 14 percent, y-o-y, at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport in 2011.
The airport thus handled a total of 41,806 tonnes of flown air cargo in 2011, against 47,705 tonnes in 2010 - a drop by 12.4 percent, y-o-y.
To this should be added the trucked airfreight at the airport, bringing the total volume of cargo handled to about 90,000 tonnes in 2011.
Despite the fluctuation in flown volumes, the pattern of freighter traffic at the airport remained stable in 2011, with three weekly Boeing 777 freighter rotations between Gothenburg and Dubai by Emirates and two weekly Boeing 747-400F freighter operations between Gothenburg and Seoul by Asiana.
