Jan 11, 2012 (newstodate): Superjet International has cornered another important milestone on the road for promoting the Superjet 100 in the global market place.
The EU aviation unit European Aviation Safety Agency, EASA, has now successfully reviewed and verified the Superjet 100 design and performance data and supervised and performed ground and flight tests, and the Sukhoi Company is awaiting the award of the EASA Aircraft Type Certificate for the SSJ100/95, expected shortly after the New Year break but no later than the end of January 2012.
With the type certification adding confidence to the new Russian commercial aircraft, Superjet International will gain further momentum in talks with potential new western airline customers and, not least, aircraft leasing companies.
Russia's Interstate Aviation Committee issued its type certificate for the Superjet 100 on February 3, 2011, opening up for the aircraft in the Russian and CIS markets.
So far the aircraft has landed 204 firm orders, and Armavia is now operating one, and Aeroflot four, Superjet 100 aircraft.
