Jan 27, 2012 (newstodate): Plans to move all cargo handling activities by Spirit Air Cargo Handling into one location at Terminal North, Copenhagen Airport, are progressing and on track.
-The last major and crucial issue of the airside/landside separation has been fully solved and approved by the Danish security authorities, and the physical work of fencing etc is now progressing, says Carsten Johansson, Spirit Air Cargo Handling managing director.
-The date for full implementation at Terminal North is February 27, 2012, and this seems to hold.
Reviewing performance by Spirit Air Cargo Handling in 2011, Mr Johansson is fairly satisfied.
-The first half of the year 2011 performed relatively well while a slow-down set in during the latter half. Still, volumes picked up again during December, so all in all and everything considered, 2011 was OK with a decline by some 10 percent in volumes. Not too bad in light of the deepening crisis through the year.
-On this basis we are realistically expecting a sustained slightly slower development in 2012 as well. The decline is seen especially in the Asian volumes, North American volumes are fair while also taking some blows in 2011, while Middle East volumes especially have been rising continuously, says Mr Johansson.
